Script for Preliminary Task

‘The door that’s never been opened’

INT.   SECONDARY SCHOOL – ROOM – EVENING


Summer is walking through the corridor, nothing but silence!
She can hear her own footsteps and she feels as someone is following her.
She makes her way up the stairs towards the room.
She has now reached the top of the stairs and is walking down the corridor.
Summer: I can’t wait to find out what’s in the room, nothing scares me.
She reaches towards the door handle and slowly enters the room. Show continuity of walking through door. The room is very dark and summer sees a black figure sitting on a chair across the room.
Summer: who are you?
Summer proceeds and sits down on a chair opposite the mysterious black figure. There is only a table between the two.
Person: Why have you come here? Nobody ever comes here. (Deep scary voice)
Summer: Because I want to know who you are and why you’re here.
Person: It is none of your business, leave me alone!
Person chucks pen from table in anger.
Summer is scared and runs away.

Concept for Preliminary Task

The action is placed in the school grounds. There is a room on the top floor that has never been seen. A 6th form student decides to find out for her-self what lies behind the mysterious door.

Brief for Preliminary Task

Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
